Class for April 1
The reading for this day is up. I want you all to pay close attention to how the cast of characters play a role in the narration, especially the Toucan and the Calavera (think archetypes found in folktales).
Also don't forget that the author, Prof. Ilan Stavans, will be joining our class so be sure to bring any questions for him. Have at least two written down and email them to me by Monday afternoon.

Library Visit
Tuesday March 4 will be meeting in the library in room 120. I also want you to take the weekend to think about a possible topic that you want to research for your final project. This can be a myth, folktale, or legend that you want to know more about (classic or contemporary). It can be the current uses and influence a particular folktale of myth has on present day society. You can look at movies, stories, novels, music, etc and examine the mythology and folklore behind them. While you will not be locked into these topics that you bring for Tuesday's class, it's a good idea to have an idea and start to figure out what exactly you want to write about for your final research paper.
